What is the Blueport Catalog?

The Blueport Vendor Catalog is a tool  available to our furniture retail clients that enable them to more efficiently and accurately enhance product data for their websites by leveraging data provided directly by manufacturers.

By joining the Blueport Vendor Catalog, manufacturers support their retailers in building out product assortments for their websites.

Which retailers can access my data?

Retailers with active product lines can  import your data for SKUs that exist in their ERP/POS systems.  Your data will not be available to retailers that do not carry your product line.

Upon request, we can also grant access to specific retailers only after you have approved the retailer to receive your data.

Which products can retailers access data for?

Retailers access the Blueport Vendor Catalog via a tool that creates matches between products in their ERP/POS store system and your products.

Retailers, therefore, can only import your catalog data for those SKUs that are already set up in their store ERP/POS system which they plan to purchase/sell.

Please note, Blueport does not control the products a retailer builds and publishes on their website.   Retailers are able to create and publish products independently of whether or not the data was available via the Blueport Vendor Catalog. Therefore sending your entire file will not increase the likelihood of a retailer displaying an unauthorized product.

Can I send my entire catalog? Or should I send retailer specific files?

We strongly recommend you send your full assortment via one file so that it is available for all mutual clients.  Please note, retailers can view images and catalog data for any product sent over in the data file. However, they are not able to leverage automation to access the data unless the SKU is set up in their store system.

We can also accept retailer specific files.  However, if you opt for separate files, we have found that retailers will often have ongoing requests for product additions if any SKUs are missing from their file.  Sending full catalog assortments instead of separate files minimizes these types of requests.

What type of information can retailers access?

The Vendor Catalog focuses on product data such as dimensions, colors, product attributes and descriptions, and images. We do not request pricing information or product availability which means your catalog is used solely to enrich product presentation online, not to manage inventory or extend product availability.

If product availability and pricing is available in your feed, this will not be available to retailers via the Blueport Vendor Catalog.

Can retailers use my data to showcase my entire catalog on their website?

Retailers can showcase your full catalog if they create the SKU in their ERP/POS store system. By default, it is not an "endless aisle" of all the feeds SKUs unless first set up in their system.

Whats the best format to send my data to Blueport?

We accept data via:
  • CSV (preferred)
  • JSON
  • API

We do not have a specific attribute schema, so you are welcome to send your data as is and we will transform it to meet the retailers schema.

If you have multiple values per attribute, you can include the attribute multiple times.  For example, if you have 5 product features, you can have 5 columns titled "product features".   If you have 5 product images, you can have 5 columns titled "product image".

How often should I send files?

For most vendors, a monthly cadence works well to ensure product data is current. If your catalog changes more frequently you can send as frequently as makes sense for your business.

Once set up via SFTP, you can send updated files automatically - no additional notifications are needed.

The goal is always to provide retailers with the most accurate, up-to-date information possible.

What if I need help sending my data via an SFTP?

If you’re not sure the best way to deliver your catalog, let us know how your data is currently managed and we’ll help determine the simplest path forward.   Typically, if you do not have a PIM system that can set up automatic delivery to an SFTP, you can use a third party to help deliver the file.
