What is the Blueport Vendor Catalog Content HUB?
The Blueport Vendor Catalog Content HUB is a tool for our furniture retail clients. It helps them enhance the product data on their websites more efficiently and accurately, using data provided directly by manufacturers.
By joining the Blueport Vendor Catalog Content HUB, manufacturers help their retailers build out product assortments on their websites.
Which retailers can access my data?
Retailers with active product lines can import your data for SKUs that exist in their ERP/POS systems. Your data is not available to retailers that do not carry your product line.
Upon request, we can also limit access to specific retailers, only after you approve each retailer to receive your data.
Which products can retailers access data for?
Retailers access the Blueport Vendor Catalog Content HUB through a tool that matches the products in their ERP/POS store system to your products.
Retailers can only import your catalog data for SKUs already set up in their store ERP/POS system, which they plan to purchase and sell.
Please note, Blueport does not control the products a retailer builds and publishes on their website. Retailers can create and publish products whether or not the data is available in the Blueport Vendor Catalog Content HUB. Sending your entire file will not increase the likelihood of a retailer displaying an unauthorized product.
Can I send my entire catalog, or should I send retailer-specific files?
We recommend you send your full assortment in one file, so it is available to all mutual clients. Retailers can view images and catalog data for any product in the file. However, they can only use automation to access the data for SKUs set up in their store system.
We can also accept retailer-specific files. When vendors send separate files, retailers often request additions for any SKUs missing from their file. Sending your full assortment in one file keeps those requests to a minimum.
What type of information can retailers access?
The Blueport Vendor Catalog Content HUB focuses on product data such as dimensions, colors, attributes, descriptions, and images.
Pricing and availability can also be shared, retailer by retailer. Many manufacturers send retailer-specific files or feeds for this. Because retailers only access data for products set up in their own POS or ERP, your data reaches retailers you already sell to. You can also work with Blueport to set additional distribution controls.
Can retailers use my data to showcase my entire catalog on their website?
Retailers can showcase your full catalog only if they create each SKU in their ERP/POS store system. By default, the Blueport Vendor Catalog Content HUB is not an "endless aisle" of every SKU in your feed.
What is the best format to send my data to Blueport?
Send it in the format you already use. We accept:
- Excel or CSV (CSV preferred)
- JSON
- A product feed
- API
Product images can be sent as files or as links in your data. We do not require a specific attribute schema. Send your data as is, and we will transform it to meet each retailer's schema. Blueport has ingested vendor data for over 20 years, so if you have another format, just ask. We can handle it.
If you have multiple values for one attribute, include the attribute multiple times. For example, if you have 5 product features, include 5 columns titled 'product features.' If you have 5 product images, include 5 columns titled 'product image.'
What does Blueport do with my data?
Blueport has ingested vendor data for over 20 years. We use industry-specific tools, with AI built in, to normalize and structure your product data and imagery, mapping your attributes and standardizing values to fit each retailer's catalog.
The result is available in the Blueport AI Powered Catalog Content HUB to the retailers who carry your line.
What if I need help sending my data via SFTP?
If you are not sure how best to deliver your catalog, tell us how your data is managed today, and we will help find the simplest path forward. If you do not have a PIM system that can deliver files to SFTP automatically, a third party can help deliver the file. You can also attach your file manually in our vendor portal.
How often should I send files?
For most vendors, a monthly cadence keeps product data current. If your catalog changes more often, send files as often as makes sense for your business.
Once SFTP delivery is set up, updated files send automatically. No additional notification is needed. If you cannot use SFTP, you can attach updated files in our vendor portal.
The goal is always to give retailers the most accurate, up-to-date information possible.
