what's in a name

Like everything we do at Blueport Commerce, our name was chosen with due consideration.

The "Blue" in our name relates to the history of the LED. Blue-colored LEDs were the most difficult to create. Finally introduced after years of effort, they have since been prized by consumers above all other LEDs. We see parallels in big-ticket retail. The next wave of e-commerce is challenging, but will create the most value for buyers and sellers alike.

The "port" in our name has several meanings, relating to the harbors that are a port of entry for commerce, Web portals, and the idea of porting a retailer's business from offline to online.

In sum, our name reflects our mission — to create value for consumers and clients by bringing complex retail businesses online.
